Innovative Aspects

Group interaction

Many of the pieces we've seen so far are essentially designed for a solitary user. Our piece is designed to examine group interaction, and relies on defining new rules of social interaction for its effect.

Cause-and-effect

As a complement to the group interaction principle, it's important that the decisions that a user makes can influence the piece as a whole, and therefore change the experience for other users. The responsibility that users have towards each other within our space allows us to lend moral gravity to the work; if all the work were harmless, the piece would have no more weight than a ride at Disneyland.

Narrative

Because our piece is structured around a narrative, there's a compelling (or propelling) component to it. It has a distinct beginning and end, and a temporal component; it doesn't merely start when the users take it up and end when they're bored with it.
